Summary
This is responsible and varied clerical work with the Department of Emergency Management. Work involves a variety of clerical tasks. The incumbent is responsible for performing work assignments given by supervisor, and most assignments are minor administrative or specialized clerical duties. After an initial training period, employees will work independently under general supervision and will be required to adhere to established assignments and functions.
Examples of Basic Tasks & Duties
The following examples are intended only as illustration of various types of work performed in this position. No attempt is made to be exhaustive; related, similar, or other logical duties are performed as assigned.
Greet guests and direct to proper staff or meeting area
Answer telephone and assist caller or route call to staff member
Open and distribute mail
Compile statistical data and complete necessary reports
Operate various computer systems maintained in the Emergency Operations Center
Maintain established filing system
Record data onto records, forms, or other documents
Work with county fire service
Completes required training courses
Assist in preparing and implementing emergency plans
Individual is on call for emergency response after routine hours and on weekends
Individual must be proficient in Microsoft Office
Maintain fire response data as required by the State of Mississippi
Maintain EMA calendar which consists of scheduling meetings, training and other events for EMA staff and other County departments
Keep Director updated on on-going projects
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
A High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of related experience in administrative position.
Terms of Employment
This is a non-exempt position.
This is an At-Will employment position.
