About the role:
In this role, on top of the regular bike mechanic tasks, you'll provide relevant training for TPS & Trip Leaders create and update training curriculums and materials to stay updated with operational changes.
As an elevated position, you’ll set an example for all other mechanics around attitude, commitment and work ethic.
What you'll be doing:
· Bike Shop Specialist works closely with the bike mechanic team in their hub and collaborates with the Global Bike Team. In addition to bike mechanic responsibilities, they will be responsible for:
o Field Staff Training – participation to most of these events.
o Preparation of logistics, spaces and equipment for training sessions.
o Training Materials -Manuals, Curriculum, Videos, etc. may be maintained and developed by the Bike Shop Specialist, under the supervision of a Bike Shop Lead or Manager.
o Driving special bike shop projects such as development of inventory for Van bags, Leader or TPS tool kits,
o Sets the standard for shop cleanliness and drives organization for Org.
o These Tasks are in addition to proficiency in the mechanic role.
· This role is expected to consist of approximately 40% training specialist responsibilities and 60% mechanical work, subject to seasonal variations.

· Excellent facilitation and teaching abilities, approachable, and flexible.
· Excellent service to Field staff
· Setting examples for all other mechanics around attitude, commitment and work ethic.
· Excellent operational understanding of Backroads.
· High level understanding of bike mechanics and the bike industry.
· Expert bike mechanic and comfortable with all types of bike repairs.
· Comfortable with Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
Autonomy:
· Operates with full autonomy, collaborating with Leads and Managers for high level tasks.
o Individual tasks should be accomplished independently
o Many/most of the tasks that are Specialist specific will involve global teamwork and alignment.
Expertise:
· Great understanding of Backroads and expert in all relevant bike mechanics.
· Possesses excellent facilitation skills.
· Expert in Backroads product and on-trip logistics.
· Guest, Leader & team focused
Work Environment:
· Pernes, France
· 35h minimum contract (preferably 40h)

The Bike Shop Team is part of the OPS Department at Backroads and plays a vital role in enhancing our guests’ experiences by managing the quality of the equipment and providing training to our field staff. This team collaborates closely across departments to drive quality improvements and ensure every guest looks forward to their next adventure.
