Robotics Technician

Location: Bristol, UK

Approach: Hybrid Remote, typically 2-3 days per week in the office

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Rosenxt is revolutionizing subsea robotics and autonomous systems, and we're building a world-class engineering team at our Bristol location to drive this innovation forward. At Rosenxt, we are looking for a hands-on and proactive Robotics Technician to support the development and deployment of our autonomous subsea robotics systems.

As a Robotics Technician, you will work closely with our Bristol-based R&D team, supporting the integration of cutting-edge autonomy software into commercial off-the-shelf ROV platforms. This role bridges the gap between software development and real-world operations, ensuring that new technologies are successfully integrated, tested, and transitioned into offshore environments.

This is a year-round onshore-focused role, supporting continuous R&D activities, prototyping, and testing. The role will also include occasional offshore deployments for technology demonstrations and validation trials.

What you can expect

  • Support the integration of autonomy software into commercial ROV systems, working closely with software and robotics engineers

  • Assist in the mechanical and electrical integration of new sensors, payloads, and subsystems onto ROV platforms

  • Design, build, and modify cable assemblies, connectors, and subsea-rated components

  • Support vehicle setup and modification, including buoyancy, ballast, and mechanical adjustments

  • Contribute to the design and manufacture of bespoke parts and fixtures for sensor and system integration

  • Prepare and support onshore testing campaigns, including test tanks, lakes, and controlled environments

  • Assist with field trials and technology demonstrations, including occasional offshore deployments

  • Provide practical feedback to R&D teams to improve system robustness, usability, and performance

  • Support the transition of technology from R&D to real-world offshore operations, including collaboration with Aberdeen-based operational teams

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair ROV systems and associated equipment

  • Take ownership of workshop and vehicle readiness, ensuring high standards of reliability and equipment care

  • Ensure all activities are conducted with the highest standards of Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE)

What you bring

  • Experience in a Robotics Technician or similar hands-on technical role (subsea, marine, or robotics preferred)

  • Strong hands-on skills in: Mechanical assembly and modification; Electrical integration and wiring; Cable splicing – cable diagrams, soldering, potting

  • Experience integrating sensors or payloads onto robotic or subsea platforms

  • Experience in maintenance and repair of complex systems

  • Ability to read and work from technical drawings, schematics, and integration plans

  • A proactive, self-starting mindset with the ability to work in a fast-paced R&D environment

  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to test, iterate, and improve systems

  • Good communication skills, with the ability to provide clear feedback to engineering teams

  • Willingness to travel (UK and internationally) and support offshore activities when required

  • UK Driving License

Desirable Skills:

  • Practical experience with ROV systems (e.g., inspection-class or work-class vehicles such as Videoray, Rovtech, Saab Seaeye, Argus systems)

  • Experience working in R&D or prototype environments

  • Familiarity with autonomous systems or robotics software integration

  • Experience with CAD, 3D printing, or light fabrication (Solidworks)

  • Existing offshore certifications (e.g., BOSIET/FOET, OGUK/OEUK medical, survival at sea) or willingness to complete

  • Basic understanding of networking, Linux systems, or robotics frameworks (e.g., ROS/ROS2)

  • Familiarity with writing/evaluating risk assessments and maintaining safe user operations

Look forward to

  • Working at the forefront of autonomous subsea robotics, contributing directly to next-generation technology

  • A highly dynamic role combining workshop, testing, and field operations

  • Development opportunities in a fast-growing and innovative R&D environment

  • Collaboration with both R&D teams and offshore operational teams

  • Flexible, hybrid working.

  • 30 days annual leave + bank holidays.

  • Company pension scheme where all employees receive a standard 10% employer contribution, with no obligation for employee contributions.
