JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Assistant Director provides leadership and oversight for all program operations to ensure compliance with federal regulations and achievement of grant objectives. This position supervises staff, manages the program budget, monitors performance outcomes, and ensures all services promote the retention, graduation, and transfer of first-generation, limited-income, and English language learner students. The Assistant Director oversees the development of the Annual Performance Report (APR) and continuous program evaluation to maintain excellence and accountability.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
- Provides overall coordination and leadership of TRIO SSS-ESL program operations to meet federal performance objectives.
- Supervises, trains, and evaluates program staff, fostering a collaborative, student-centered environment.
- Manages budgeting, fiscal reporting, and compliance with U.S. Department of Education regulations.
- Develops, implements, and assesses student retention, graduation, and financial literacy initiatives.
- Prepares sand submits the Annual Performance Report (APR) and other compliance documentation.
- Uses data-driven strategies to evaluate program effectiveness and inform decision-making.
- Builds and maintains partnerships with college departments and community organizations to support student success.
- Attends work activities or programs as scheduled or assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new software.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other college supported systems.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Excellent communication skills including active listening.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well with minimal supervision in a team-orientated environment.
- Ability to demonstrate cooperation and professionalism while maintaining patience and understanding in stressful situations.
- Ability to motivate staff and foster a results-oriented culture focused on student persistence, graduation and transfer processes.
- Ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures and ethnicities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Educational Services, Social Work, Human Services, or related field.
- Two (2) years’ work-related experience with single parents/homemakers or Human Services.
- Supervisory experience required.
- Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered.
- Ability to travel between campuses for meetings or position responsibilities.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have overcome similar educational or socioeconomic challenges as the target population.
- Must pass a background check.
