Job Summary
Responsible for the provision of optimum advanced life support (ALS) care in accordance with KBEMS regulations KRS 311A.170 and all Owensboro Health Community Hospital-Emergency Medical Service guidelines and protocols.
Job Responsibilities
Navigates ambulance to patient's location.
Provides stabilization of scene and requests additional assistance as necessary.
Determines nature and extent of illness or injury and patient's history from available sources.
Administers emergency medical care within scope of practice, including patient stabilization, monitoring, and resuscitation, from the scene to receiving medical facility.
Contacts medical personnel, reports and records observations, and follows directives.
Maintains equipment, restocks supplies, and cleans ambulance as necessary.
Responsible for the safe operation of all EMS vehicles in accordance with current Kentucky Motor Vehicle care.
Demonstrates evidence of proficiency in the required basic life support (BLS) and advanced life support (ALS) skills.
Maintains personal knowledge and skills in order to deliver optimum patient care as an EMT-P.
Establishes and maintains effective working relations with fellow team members, hospital staff, fire and rescue squads, police departments, and communication centers.
Supervises the performance of EMT and EMT-A.
Documents all patient care, assessments, BLS/ALS skills, and all service reports in a timely manner.
Participates in training and evaluation of EMTS when approved and requested.
Must be punctual and ready for all shifts.
Acts at all times in a professional manner and handles conflict and stressful situations with good judgment.

Education
High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher required upon hire
Licensure/Certification/Registration
Paramedic - Licensed Paramedic in the state of Kentucky required upon hire AND
BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required upon hire AND
ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Healthcare Provider required upon hire AND
Driver - Valid driver's license and 21 years of age required upon hire
