In Colorado, we have two locations – Our corporate offices and a state-of-the-art fabrication shop in Louisville. We have a shop in Gypsum/Eagle Valley for our mountain region. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Comfort Systems USA, a $8 billion company, we have a local company feel with the backing of one of the largest mechanical contractors in the country. 

Job Title: Service Operations Manager

Reports To: Vice President of Service

FLSA Status: Exempt (not eligible for OT)

Location: Louisville, CO (Onsite)

Wage Range: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00 (DOE) plus an incentive plan

OVERVIEW: The Service Operations Manager is responsible for all aspects related to the execution of HVAC/Plumbing service, ensuring Safety, Quality and Profitability.

DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES:

  • Safety management to ensure ZERO INCIDENTS
  • Ensure adherence by department and personnel to Company Core Values and processes.
  •  Foster excellent communication among team members and other departments of the company to ensure smooth business flow throughout the Team.
  • Responsible for all aspects of technician performance including:
    o Manpower planning/scheduling
    o Recruiting / Hiring / Terminating
    o Developing / Training
    o Quality of work
    o Timely completion of tasks
    o Performance Reviews /goal setting
    o Technician Retention
     
  • Coordinate dispatch team to ensure technician effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee the process of ordering, receiving and delivery of materials/equipment needed to complete the work of the department.
  • Ensure payroll functions and approvals are complete and accurate.
  • Ensure work orders are closed out and billed in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and improve operational efficiency and financial performance including but not limited to:
    o Gross Margin and Gross Profit by Line of Business
    o Revenue and gross profit/man hour per technician
    o Indirect costs
    o Labor utilization rates
    o Company assets and tools
     
  • Ensure quotes for repairs generated from technicians are accurate, timely and followed up on.
  • Ensure strong customer retention including implementation of Customer CARE Program.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Addresses internal/external complaints and resolve problems.
  • Create a cohesive team with high morale.
  • Collaborate with VP of Service, Service Sales Manager and Company Leadership to establish and achieve departmental/company financial targets.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

  • 10+ years of Commercial HVAC/Plumbing Service experience including in-depth knowledge of various HVAC products, systems, electronics, and building controls.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred), or associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school with a certificate in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning.
  • 5+ years or more of supervisory experience in a similar service-oriented business.

  • Valid driver’s license and maintain acceptable driving record
  • Flexibility to be available via cell phone after hours as well as work overtime and occasional weekends (as needed)
  • Infrequent overnight travel may be required
  • Strong interpersonal skills, achievement oriented and self-motivated.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The employee must occasionally climb ladders to access rooftop equipment for the purpose of developing field quotes.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Strict adherence to Company safety policies.

WORK ENVIROMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of an Operations Manager. This position requires frequent visits to job sites, which could require working outdoors, in mechanical/equipment rooms.
