Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple entities

  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for accuracy and completeness

  • Prepare and review financial statements, variance analyses, and management reporting

  • Maintain and improve internal controls over financial reporting

  • Assist in documenting and standardizing accounting processes to support ERP system conversion

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve reporting capabilities

  • Support audit activities, compliance requirements, and financial reviews

  • Partner with leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis

  • Serve as a key resource for time-sensitive projects and special initiatives

  • Communicate financial risks, issues, and key decisions to the Controller and leadership team

  • Review work completed by accounting staff and provide guidance, training, and support

  • Assist with system enhancements and act as a subject-matter resource during system changes

  • Serve as backup to the Controller as needed

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the accounting and finance function

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting (GAAP)

  • Proven ability to manage and improve the month-end close process

  • Experience developing and maintaining internal controls and accounting procedures

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, financial analysis)

  • Ability to interpret financial data and communicate effectively with leadership

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Process-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and efficiency

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required

  • Minimum of 7+ years of progressive accounting experience

  • Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting required

  • Prior experience reviewing or supervising accounting staff preferred

  • Experience with ERP systems and system implementations or conversions preferred

  • Construction accounting, job costing, or WIP experience preferred but not required

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer
