Take ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple entities
Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for accuracy and completeness
Prepare and review financial statements, variance analyses, and management reporting
Maintain and improve internal controls over financial reporting
Assist in documenting and standardizing accounting processes to support ERP system conversion
Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve reporting capabilities
Support audit activities, compliance requirements, and financial reviews
Partner with leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
Serve as a key resource for time-sensitive projects and special initiatives
Communicate financial risks, issues, and key decisions to the Controller and leadership team
Review work completed by accounting staff and provide guidance, training, and support
Assist with system enhancements and act as a subject-matter resource during system changes
Serve as backup to the Controller as needed
Perform other duties as assigned to support the accounting and finance function
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting (GAAP)
Proven ability to manage and improve the month-end close process
Experience developing and maintaining internal controls and accounting procedures
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, financial analysis)
Ability to interpret financial data and communicate effectively with leadership
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High level of professionalism, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality
Process-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and efficiency
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
Minimum of 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting required
Prior experience reviewing or supervising accounting staff preferred
Experience with ERP systems and system implementations or conversions preferred
Construction accounting, job costing, or WIP experience preferred but not required
Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer
