Your opportunity

As a National Facilities Officer at Mission Australia, you will help ensure our offices and service locations are safe, well‑maintained and equipped for the vital work we deliver in communities every day.

You will play a key role in managing our national leasehold property portfolio, coordinating preventative and reactive maintenance, supporting minor works and refurbishments, and ensuring compliance with WHS and building standards across multiple sites.

This role requires attendance at our George Street Office up to three days per week, where you’ll work closely with internal teams, contractors and building management to resolve issues, improve systems, and keep our sites functioning at their best.

If you’re looking for a purposeful facilities role where your expertise directly supports staff delivering essential services nationwide, this is a meaningful opportunity to shape safe, accessible and fit‑for‑purpose environments.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Manage reactive and planned maintenance requests across the national leasehold property portfolio.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules to meet lease and safety requirements.
  • Liaise with internal teams, landlords and contractors to resolve facilities and property issues.
  • Support onboarding for new leased sites, ensuring facilities processes and standards are in place.
  • Assist with minor works, refurbishments, make‑good activities and compliance‑related projects.
  • Monitor WHS compliance, escalate emerging risks, and act as a key contact for safety‑related facilities matters.
  • Maintain asset registers, process invoices, and use internal systems for requests, purchasing and contractor coordination.
  • Provide timely facilities advice to staff, ensuring sites remain safe, accessible and fit‑for‑purpose.

Requirements for success

  • At least five years’ experience in facilities management across a multi‑site portfolio.
  • Strong understanding of building legislation, WHS practices and lease obligations.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, managing maintenance workflows and delivering minor works or refurbishment projects.
  • Ability to prioritise competing tasks and meet deadlines across a national portfolio.
  • Confident communication skills, with the ability to provide clear advice to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with maintenance or ticketing systems.
  • A proactive, adaptable approach with a commitment to safe, inclusive and fit‑for‑purpose workplaces.

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.

Your benefits

To ensure our employees feel valued, empowered, and celebrated, we provide a range of employee benefits including:

  • Rewarding work – every day you know you’re making a real difference
  • Not-for-profit salary packaging, reducing your tax (details via AccessPay)
