The Personal Lines Actuarial Manager will lead pricing strategy, rate development, and profitability monitoring for our Homeowners and Builder’s Risk portfolios. This role works closely with Underwriting, Product, CAT Modeling, and Predictive Modeling to deliver actionable insights, guide pricing decisions, and support state filings. The position provides exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to directly influence company strategy in high-growth personal lines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead actuarial pricing analysis for Homeowners and Builder’s Risk products, including base rate development, rating factors, and trend studies.
  • Monitor portfolio performance through profitability reviews, loss ratio analysis, and diagnostic reporting.
  • Partner with Product and Underwriting on rate indications, competitive analysis, underwriting quantification, and pricing segmentation opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Regulatory and Product Filing teams to support state filings and respond to DOI inquiries.
  • Mentor junior actuarial staff and provide guidance on both technical and business skills.
  • Work with Predictive Modeling teams to derive policy-level indications and support strategic planning.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to actuarial leadership, business partners, and senior executives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
  • ACAS required; FCAS preferred.
  • 5+ years of actuarial experience, including at least 2+ years in personal property lines (Homeowners experience strongly preferred; Builder’s Risk experience a plus).
  • Strong knowledge of actuarial pricing techniques, including GLM modeling and trend analysis.
  • Proficiency with actuarial/statistical tools such as SAS, R, Python, SQL, or equivalent.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and explain technical results to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
