General Purpose of Job:

The Polysomnography Technologist will conduct all common duties as a nighttime sleep tech in the pediatric sleep center. Duties include greeting patients; sleep study acquisition; recognizing medical conditions that would require urgent intervention; scoring studies and follow all the sleep lab protocols; cleaning equipment; partake in the sleep center’s quality improvement activities.

  • Greets patients and their families at beginning of study.
  • Performs hook-ups and acquisition of studies successfully in various pediatric age groups.
  • Recognizes common medical emergencies that may require intervention (cardiac arrhythmias, seizures, respiratory distress, severe sleep disordered breathing)
  • Cleans equipment at the end of the study to the standards required.
  • Basic scoring of studies will be required, and on occasions, complete scoring may be necessary during acquisition of the study.
  • Technical troubleshooting and escalating appropriately.
  • Partake in quality maintenance and improvement activities of the sleep center.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Select the one level of education and/or experience needed to successfully accomplish the essential duties of this job.  Delete those that do not apply.
  • 2+ years of experience required.
  • Pediatric experience preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations.

  • Registered Polysomnography Technologist (RPSGT), or (RST), or (RRT-SDS) required.
  • Basic Cardiovascular Life Support (BLS)
