About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Casualty Underwriter to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical role in evaluating and underwriting complex casualty risks, driving profitable growth, and contributing to the development of underwriting strategies. You will work closely with brokers, clients, and internal teams, leveraging your expertise to deliver tailored insurance solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, analyze, and underwrite complex casualty risks, including general liability, workers' compensation, and other related lines.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients to drive business growth and retention.
  • Assess risk exposure, pricing, and coverage terms to ensure profitability and compliance with underwriting guidelines.
  • Collaborate with claims, actuarial, and risk control teams to gather insights and make informed underwriting decisions.
  • Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with brokers and clients to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging risks, and regulatory changes to adapt underwriting strategies.
  • Lead or contribute to the development of underwriting guidelines, best practices, and product enhancements.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior underwriters, fostering their professional development.
  • Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Targeted new business production goal of $8,000,000 annually

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Insurance, Business, Finance, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CPCU, ARM) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in casualty underwriting, with a proven track record of managing complex accounts.
  • In-depth knowledge of casualty insurance products, market dynamics, and underwriting principles.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to evaluate diverse risks and exposures.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency in using underwriting systems and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Pre-existing relationships with wholesale insurance brokers
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
