Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Participates in direct patient care as an active member of the clinical and surgical team.
  • Assists in clinics as an active member of the team; establishes medical diagnosis(es) and determines a plan of care for short term health problems, stable chronic health problems and/or exacerbation of stable chronic health problems.
  • Conducts and documents comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations based on age and diagnosis, including psychological status.
  • Synthesizes data and utilizes evidence to develop, implement, and evaluate the patient plan of care, including ordering and interpreting laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies/results.
  • Work with multidisciplinary team members with treatment and coordination of patient care.
  • Provides relevant management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients, families and caregivers related to current care and preventive health measures.
  • Facilitates/participates in quality related initiatives through planned group processes, workshops, seminars, and staff meetings, to improve clinical and system practice performance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited advanced practice registered nursing program (APRN) or physician assistant (PA) program and are certified through a recognized accrediting agency and hold a current Texas license
  • PALS and BLS
  • Membership and active participation in professional organizations are beneficial
  • Knowledge of growth and development from birth through adolescence
  • Ability to learn new skills in a timely manner
  • Flexibility and adaptability to change
  • High level of analytical ability and critical thinking skills
  • Create and maintain effective working relationships with hospital staff peers, medical staff, and administration
