  • Provider cannot be on-call or provide any other services aside from those listed above simultaneously under any other arrangement during the provider’s 12-hour shift. This includes any existing agreement between SRC and any other entity that employs or contracts with the Provider separately to provide services to SRC

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional medical care as a staff physician

  • Provide high level pediatric acute and critical care clinical services to patients including, but not limited to:

    • Performing and recording history and physical examinations

    • Recording and interpreting pertinent patient data

    • Developing, documenting, and executing a treatment plan

    • Writing routine orders for appropriate laboratory studies, imaging, and consultations

    • Performing patient/parent teaching

    • Assisting with patient follow-up

    • Performing appropriate screenings

    • Administering medications as required

    • Ordering and/or performing therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as indicated by patient findings

    • Vent and airway management

    • Nutrition management such as TPN

  • Staff presurgical and multidisciplinary as needed

  • Participate in research

  • Supervise and teach medical students, residents, fellows and clinical team on the inpatient unit including advanced practice providers, nurses and respiratory therapists.

  • Manage and participate in the call coverage schedule as assigned

  • Develop, maintain and promote effective working relationships with other physicians and hospital staff

  • Participate in staff meetings and hospital committees as requested

  • Use hospital resources efficiently

  • Abide by hospital regulations, bylaws, and policies

  • Maintain good professional relationships with the broader medical community

  • Provide professional pediatric hospitalist/intensivist services on-site for all patients admitted, under observation, or evaluated within the hospital

  • Serve as the first responding physician for emergency services needed within the scope of practice.

  • Coordinate non-emergency care, as needed, and consult with the appropriate on-call service for further direction

  • Maintain effective communication regarding current status and treatment plans for all inpatients with the incoming team through daily progress notes and status reports

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school

  • Must have completed an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited pediatric residency program

  • Must have relevant work experience or completed fellowship training in pediatric critical care

  • Must possess or be eligible for TX medical license

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required
