Position Summary
Driving a bus to, from, or around Mt. Bachelor. Part-time and some split shifts. This is a wonderful position for those looking for a work/play balance and a passion for summer recreation.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities
Complete vehicle inspection. Check and fill fluid levels on vehicles as needed. Fill out the Mt. Bachelor daily driver report, recording added fluids and recording passengers by boarding pass type for each trip.
Maintain a clean bus interior between scheduled runs. Ensure safety items are maintained and used properly. Identify minor problems with the vehicles and have the vehicle maintenance shop address any issues. Complete a secondary inspection before driving the vehicle after a period of downtime.
Safe operation could require tire changes midway up the mountain alongside the road, in Mt. Bachelor’s parking lot, or at Mt. Bachelor’s Vehicle Maintenance
Provide excellent guest service to employees and guests in a manner that leaves them with the impression you have done everything possible to help them, even if they did not receive what they wanted.
At the end of each working day, properly complete all paperwork and turn it into its appropriate location. Fuel the vehicle. Wash the outside, inspect the interior for lost and found items, and empty trash.
Attend all Mt. Bachelor meetings when not in conflict with days off or driving duties.
Attend all transportation department meetings.
Secondary Function
Housekeeping Responsibilities
At the Bend park-and-ride, pick up loose trash in the parking lot and the surrounding area.
Teamwork
Provide crowd control while a primary driver loads the vehicles.
Job Scope
To provide a safe trip up, down, and around the base area for our guests and employees.
Responsible for turning in documentation at the end of the shift. Report all motor vehicle accidents immediately and complete the DMV accident form. Responsible for keeping certification (driver’s license).
Interpersonal Contacts
Able to interact with the other vehicle’s drivers, employees, guests, Public Safety, and vehicle maintenance staff. This communication may take place face-to-face, on two-way radios, or by phone.
Specific Job Skills
License/Certifications: A minimum of a class C driver’s license with no restrictions.
Technical: Able to check and add necessary fluids in the correct amount to the motor. Possess a basic understanding of the correct operating sound of the equipment to ensure safe operation.
Physical Capabilities: Able to lift, twist, and pull as it applies to working on compartment hatches on a vehicle. Possess the physical strength and range of motion required to install a tire.
Additional: Strong focus on safety.
Education/Related Experience
Minimum education required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum time in related position: 3 years driving Vehicles.

In addition to the specific conditions below, every position at Mt. Bachelor requires the ability to shovel snow, lift up to 10 pounds, and walk on steep and uneven surfaces.
While performing the duties of this role, the employee will be required to frequently bend, reach, climb, lift up to 25 pounds, and sit for prolonged periods of time. This individual may also be exposed to extreme weather conditions, including heat, sun, and cold. Additionally, the position will require frequent concentrated reading and writing, rapid reactions to changes, and the utilization of hand/eye coordination.
Current Hiring Rate: $17.50/hour
Minimum Age Requirement: 21+
