Job Description Summary

‎ 

Summary:
Responsible for greeting and registering patients as they enter the medical office. Provides phone,
clerical, and data entry support including insurance verification. Directs patients, visitors, and callers to
appropriate parties and answers basic questions.

How will you make an impact & Requirements

Responsibilities: • Greet and check-in patients upon arrival at the medical office. • Answer phone calls and schedule appointments for patients • Collect patient copays and update patient information in the electronic medical records system. • Handle patient inquiries and provide excellent customer service. • Works under moderate supervision. • Efficiently process all urgent specialist referrals, appointment ticklers, and urgent medical records release requests. • Understand billing flags for outstanding balances. • Perform general administrative tasks such as faxing, and scanning documents, etc. • Uses software following established protocols for documentation, responding to requests, and initiating appropriate tests and orders. • Maintain HIPAA compliant computer access, including only secure means of handling and forwarding PHI (e.g., no emails, texts, or phone messages). • Maintains clinical proficiency in practice specific competencies. • Assist Practice Manager with assigned administrative duties as assigned. • Demonstrate excellent service to internal team members and patients. • Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months’ related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Perform all Specialist Patient Experience responsibilities, as defined by the job description. • Successfully complete all required training on time. • 1 – 4 years of experience in a clinical setting or patient environment. • Is gaining or has attained full proficiency in job duties. • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. • Have a positive customer service attitude and are energized by helping people. • Assimilate information and listen well. • Have a strong work ethic that includes thoroughness and attention to detail. • Understand that success comes from working together (team player) • Adapt to changing circumstances with patience and determination. • Love to solve problems creatively and think analytically. • Pride themselves on their ability to organize and process information. • Take ownership of outcomes in providing quality service and support. • Get excited with comprehensive training and continued opportunity to grow/develop. • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. Physical Demands • Stand, walk and able to maneuver in small areas. Occasionally sit, bend or kneel. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker must have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
