Overview

Under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse, this position provides support in the treatment and care of patients in accordance with established nursing standards. The role combines a variety of clinical and administrative responsibilities, including direct patient care duties typically performed by a nursing assistant or medical assistant, unit secretary functions, and basic phlebotomy tasks. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong teamwork, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering safe, compassionate, and efficient patient care.

Responsibilities

Phlebotomy and Clinical Support

  • Performs venipuncture, micro-collection, blood cultures, blood bank specimen collection, and therapeutic phlebotomy with accuracy and competence.
  • Ensures positive patient identification and follows all biohazard safety and infection control standards.
  • Assists nurses and therapists with patient preparation, vital signs, and other clinical needs.
  • Monitors and records patient data accurately, reporting abnormalities promptly.
  • Enters orders and documentation into the EMR accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and well-stocked patient care area.

Reception and Communication

  • Greets and assists patients, families, and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner.
  • Answers and directs phone calls and provides information as needed.
  • Maintains positive, effective communication with physicians, patients, families, and coworkers.
  • Builds collaborative relationships and exercises sound judgment in all interactions.

Administrative, Compliance, and Safety

  • Adheres to all hospital policies, HIPAA, infection control, and safety procedures.
  • Demonstrates initiative and flexibility in supporting the department’s changing needs.
  • Completes tasks accurately and within required time frames.
  • Practices strict biohazard and safety precautions while ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • One year of experience preferred as Unit Administration, CNA/CMA, or Phlebotomist.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Education

  • High school graduate or equivalent

USD $17.75/Hr.
