What We Want
The Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning at Texas A&M University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position. This position is supported by a grant from the National Institutes of Health and other research grants.
The successful candidate will work under the mentorship of Dr. Dongying Li, Associate Professor, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary research team at Texas A&M University and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
What You Need to Know
Salary: $65,000/annually.

Position Details: Due to this position’s salary having all or a portion of it being funded by grants or contracts, the continuing salary and overall employment is contingent upon availability of these funds in the future.
Other Requirements and Factors:
Candidates will need to have completed their PhD by the start of employment.
This Postdoctoral Research Associate position will require approximately 100% effort dedicated to research activities, with an anticipated duration of one year, contingent upon project funding and performance.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
PhD in a field related to environmental research or environmental health.
No prior experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience coordinating project milestones and tracking deliverables in an academic or professional setting.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with various community stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability and willingness to travel to or stay in Houston, TX and conduct fieldwork (June–November)
Essential Duties/Tasks
Survey Implementation and Analysis
Lead the execution and analysis of a two-wave survey examining heat exposure and experiences among residents of Houston, Texas. Responsibilities include recruiting and training community health workers, participant enrollment, data collection, data management and analysis, and preparation of reports and peer-reviewed publications.
Academic Writing
Develop high-impact manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals and present research findings at one national conference.
Grant Development and Reporting
Contribute to future grant proposals and assist with ongoing grant reporting activities. Assist in the preparation of annual project reports.
Project Management
Oversee day-to-day operations of the research study, including coordinating with the team at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, managing research staff, coordinating hiring processes, handling project finances and reimbursements, ensuring IRB compliance, and maintaining high data quality standards.
