Job Description:

Job Summary

The Supply Chain AI Intern will work directly with the organization’s Supply Chain Department, supporting Category Management, Procurement, and Digital Transformation initiatives. The intern will receive supervision and guidance from Supply Chain leadership and cross-functional partners to complete assigned projects. These projects are designed to enhance data-driven decision-making, automate repetitive workflows, and improve operational efficiency across the supply chain. The role will also provide hands-on experience applying artificial intelligence and data tools to real-world supply chain challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of AI-driven tools to improve supply chain processes (e.g., sourcing, spend analysis, contract management, and procurement operations)
  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and process inefficiencies
  • Assist in building, testing, and documenting AI agents and automation workflows (e.g., for purchase order management, supplier follow-ups, and reporting)
  • Collaborate with Category Managers and Buyers to streamline sourcing and procurement activities
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations using tools such as Power BI, Excel, or similar platforms
  • Support integration of AI solutions into existing systems (e.g., Coupa, Microsoft 365, or other internal platforms)
  • Assist with documentation of processes, workflows, and AI use cases for scalability and training purposes
  • Provide an end-of-program presentation demonstrating project outcomes, insights, and business impact
  • Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies by attending all required HSE training sessions, safety meetings, and utilizing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a BS/MS in Supply Chain Management, Data Science, Engineering, Business Analytics, or other closely related field
  • Availability to work full-time (40 hours per week) during the summer (late May through early August)
  • Able to physically work onsite in Midland, TX
  • Must have experience or coursework involving AI/ML concepts, data analytics, or supply chain principles
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI, etc.); experience building AI Agents required
  • Has attention to detail; well organized
  • Self-motivated, independent, and reliable with a strong work ethic
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to effectively communicate with personnel at all levels of the organization
