Job Description:
The Group Alterations Manager is responsible for overseeing a defined group of stores within a region based on geography and volume with a focus on workload balance and strategic oversight to support operational excellence, people development, quality and consistency, business results and services across alterations within their designated region. This role acts as a strategic partner between Store Alterations Managers and Regional Alterations Lead ensuring consistent execution and alignment with Saks Global brand standards, customer experience goals, and regional business priorities.
Leadership Oversight
● Lead and manage a store alterations managers across assigned store locations.
● Monitor business performance (workroom sales, productivity, waived fees, staffing) and provide action plans for
improvement.
● Serve as the primary point of contact for alterations escalation within the designated stores, fostering
collaboration between store leadership, merchandising, and customer service teams.
● Conduct regular site visits and virtual check-ins to ensure consistency with Saks Global alterations standards,
morale, and efficiency across teams.
● Identify operational gaps and implement best practices among stores.
● Serve as a communication bridge between Regional Alterations Lead and store teams.
● Cascade priorities, initiatives, and feedback from leadership to stores
Operations
● Ensure all alterations meet quality standards through regular audits, training, and customer feedback reviews.
● Partner with store alterations managers and supervisors to support high performing alterations teams.
● Partner with logistics and inventory teams to streamline garment flow between stores and the central hub.
● Implement standardized procedures and processes in designated store locations
Talent Development & Training
● Support the coaching and development of Store Alterations Managers
● Support hiring, onboarding, and performance management of alterations staff across the assigned stores.
● Provide coaching, training, and career development pathways for tailoring professionals.
● Champion a culture of inclusion, belonging, and high performance.
● Assist Store Alterations Managers with performance reviews, progressive discipline and succession planning
● Support Alterations Academy Internship Program across banners
Strategic Collaboration
● Monitor KPIs (turnaround time, customer satisfaction, quality issues) and implement continuous improvement
initiatives.
● Support implementation of enterprise-wide alterations tools, tech, or process enhancements.
● Prepare performance reports for assigned stores (productivity, revenue, waived fees and vendor chargeback)
● Analyze sales and labor reports to optimize staffing and productivity across designated stores
