The Infection Control and Employee Health Nurse is a dual role that is responsible for utilizing established policy and procedures as well as developing and implementing current standards of care and best practices to meet a wide variety of infection control related standards. The Infection Control and Employee Health Nurse coordinates endeavors to promote health and safety to employees which include conducting employee health screenings and employee health related education. This position will work closely with the Human Resource Department and the Director of Nursing, who is the organizations Infection Control Officer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Develop, implement and monitor infection control policies and procedures

  • Educate and train staff on infection prevention and control practices. Education formats include one to one, group learning and development of written training material.

  • Keep up to date with changes in infection control standards set by regulatory agencies such as the Department of Health and CDC, keeping appropriate parties informed of changing requirements and offering guidance on changes to FBH policies and practices.

  • Act as a subject matter expert of infection control and employee health related to  WAC/RCWs.

  • Devise monitoring tools and processes to ensure FBH is operating in a manner consistent with external requirements.

  • Manage infection outbreaks and implement control measures, in consultation with the infection control officer, coordinating with local and state health departments as indicated.

  • Conduct audits to ensure adherence to infection control practices such as hand hygiene and other key performance indicators

  • Work closely with the Human Resource department to coordinate response to blood borne pathogen exposure incidents.

  • Ensure FBH’s Infection Control Manual and Exposure Control Plan are kept up to date.

  • Provide primary follow up for infection control related incident reports.

  • Oversee the organization’s bed bug response

  • Maintain accurate and thorough records for infection control activities and outcomes.

  • In collaboration with HR develop, implement and monitor employee health policies and procedures including but not limited to;

  • TB testing and tracking

  • N95 screening and Fit Testing

  • COVID tracking and follow up

  • Employee vaccinations and immunization

  • Maintain Respiratory Protection Program

  • Conduct BLS training for employees.

  • Track and monitor employees initial and ongoing compliance with employee health related requirements.

QUALIFIED APPLICANTS WILL HAVE:

REQUIRED:

  • RN license in the State of Washington.

  • Active BLS within 90 days of hire and must maintain active BLS

  • Must have an unrestricted and valid driver’s license, active car insurance and must be willing to use their personal vehicle in the course of work. 

PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing.

  • Previous infection control and/or employee health experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to create and utilize a variety of software, including Excel, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

  • Detail oriented and organized with the ability to track and trend data, create reports, and monitor compliance.

  • Must have reliable transportation, insurance and an active drivers’ license and be willing to use personal vehicle in the course of work.

  • Work is generally performed in an outpatient setting which may involve standing or sitting for long periods of time.

  • May be required to lift 10 - 20 pounds. 

  • Blood-borne Pathogen Category I - Chance of exposure to blood-borne pathogens.





PAY RANGE (Salary/Exempt): $82,386.88 - $100,370.85

All pay is based on longevity at Frontier Behavioral Health; thus, the starting pay is $82,386.88 annually.
