The Paramedic is responsible for providing medical services to clients within the Sobering Center, including monitoring vital signs, assigning Sobering Protocol levels, and responding to medical emergencies. This role works closely with Behavioral Health Technicians and medical staff to ensure a safe environment while supporting ongoing treatment and recovery efforts.

Key Responsibilities:
· Provide medical screening and ongoing monitoring of clients to ensure medical needs are met
· Collect vital signs and medical information to determine appropriate level of care for incoming clients
· Assign beds or recliners based on protocol and client condition
· Monitor client progress and condition in accordance with Sobering Center protocols
· Collaborate with Behavioral Health Technicians and Medic I staff to support continuous monitoring and care
· Respond promptly to medical emergencies and alert the treatment team as appropriate
· Document client activities, behaviors, and progress relevant to treatment and safety
· Communicate vital treatment and medical information to associates and treatment team members
· Educate clients on medications and review physician orders that require additional explanation
· Assist with client orientation regarding rights, rules, and expectations
· Participate in treatment team meetings, staffing, and development of client interventions
· Support organizational goals and demonstrate commitment to both short-term and long-term objectives
· Perform other duties as assigned by clinical and program leadership
Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Current Missouri Paramedic License
· Minimum of one (1) year experience working in a paramedic role
Additional Qualifications:
· Strong knowledge of mental health and substance use disorder treatment principles as they relate to paramedic services
· Ability to accurately document, transcribe, and store medical information in written or electronic systems
· Effective verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to evaluate services within the assigned program and provide constructive input
· Current driver’s license with acceptable driving record and current auto insurance
· Must attain First Aid and CPR certification within three (3) months of hire and upon renewal
· Behavioral Management training required within thirty (30) days of employment or first available class
· Achievement of required training hours in accordance with applicable state regulations
· Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age to operate a company-owned vehicle
· Must be at least twenty-three (23) years of age to operate a company-owned fifteen (15) passenger van
Physical Requirements:
Sedentary work involving exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible force frequently to lift, carry, push, or pull objects. Requires repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and writing during the work shift. This role involves sitting most of the time, with occasional walking or standing for brief periods.
