Job Title: Assistant Director

Location: Kansas City, Missouri area

Department: School Based Services

Employment Type: Full-time

Shift: Monday-Friday (8:00am – 5:00pm CST)

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for school-based services
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align services with district goals
  • Foster partnerships with community organizations and agencies

Program Development and Management

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of school-based programs
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Manage program budgets and allocate resources effectively

Staff Supervision and Development

  • Recruit, hire, and supervise staff, including counselors, social workers, and support staff
  • Provide coaching, training, and professional development opportunities
  • Evaluate staff performance and provide constructive feedback

Student Support Services

  • Ensure delivery of comprehensive support services, including counseling, mental health, and academic support
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to identify student needs and develop support plans
  • Facilitate referrals to community resources and services

Crisis Response and Management

  • Develop and implement crisis response plans, including emergency protocols and threat assessments
  • Collaborate with school administrators, law enforcement, and mental health professionals to respond to crises
  • Provide support and resources to students, staff, and families affected by crises

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Collect and analyze data on student outcomes, program effectiveness, and service delivery
  • Prepare and submit reports to senior leadership, school boards, and external agencies
  • Use data to inform program development, staffing, and resource allocation

Community Engagement and Partnerships

  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, agencies, and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with community partners to provide services, resources, and support to students and families
  • Facilitate communication and coordination between schools, community agencies, and healthcare providers

Policy Development and Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and review policies and procedures related to school-based services
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards
  • Collaborate with district administrators to develop and implement district-wide policies and procedures.

Education and/or Experience Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or licensed professional with post licensure experience in mental health
  • Supervisory experience preferred, but not required 

Preferred License/Certification (one of the following):

  • Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC)
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
  • Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW)
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

Additional Qualifications:

  • A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
