Job Summary: 
Join our compassionate and collaborative team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In this vital role, you will provide Individualized Supported Living services, empowering clients to thrive in their homes and communities. We are looking for individuals who are patient, dedicated, and have strong communication skills to foster independence and well-being. 

As a DSP, your daily responsibilities will involve offering training, support, and oversight to clients, assisting them with activities like personal hygiene, medication management, and community integration. Your role will be critical in helping individuals achieve their goals while ensuring their safety and comfort.

Key Responsibilities: 
• Report to and collaborate with assigned clients according to the support schedule. 
• Understand and utilize the current Individual Support Plan (ISP) for each client. 
• Provide support in accordance with personal plans, including assistance with medical appointments and recreational activities. 
• Train clients in personal hygiene, money management, safety, household skills, meal preparation, and medication management. 
• Document client progress as specified in the ISP and complete detailed residential daily notes. 
• Obtain receipts for purchases made with clients' funds and maintain accurate records. 
• Implement emergency and safety drills as outlined in the Individual Safety Plan. 
• Complete General Event Reports (GERs) and Event Reports as per State guidelines. 
 Maintain current certifications in CPR, Standard First Aid, and Med Aide if administration of medications is required. 
• Attend meetings and specialized training as directed. 
• Complete competency-based Community Services orientation training. 
• Perform additional duties as assigned. 

 

 

Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications: 
• Must be 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED. 
• One year of experience in the field of intellectual/developmental disabilities is preferred. Alternatively, completion of training in the Missouri Quality Outcomes approved by the Division of DD regional office may substitute for experience. 

 

 

Additional Qualifications: 
• Must have a reliable means of communication. 
• Must possess skills to read and understand written materials and to write clearly and legibly. 
• Must maintain punctuality and excellent attendance. 
• Good verbal and written communication skills are essential, including the ability to mediate and collaborate with teams. 
• Must have a working air conditioner and heater in any vehicle used for client transport. 
• Successful completion of background checks, including criminal record and driving record checks. 

 

 

Physical Requirements: 
• ADA Consideration - Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (exists 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull objects, including the human body. 
• Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may include brief periods of walking or standing.
