Overview:
The Chemical Hygiene Officer (CHO) provides technical leadership and oversight for institutional chemical safety and laboratory compliance. This role develops, implements, and enforces the Chemical Hygiene Plan; conducts hazard assessments; ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and state regulations; investigates incidents; and delivers technical training in laboratory chemical safety, hazardous waste management, and exposure control. The CHO serves as the subject matter expert supporting researchers, facilities, and leadership to reduce risk and maintain a safe working environment. Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
