Job Summary
This role leads the management of all Networks segment property‑tax responsibilities, including tax compliance, cost recovery, tax planning, risk mitigation, and financial reporting (both GAAP and IFRS). The Tax Manager provides strategic insight and technical information through cross functional knowledge sharing (with Avangrid Networks’ Regulatory, Finance, Engineering, and Capital Accounting teams) and sponsorship/development of property tax budgets, forecasts, and other cost recovery projections. This individual also leads appeal, abatement, and PILOT initiatives. This person will also collaborate across functions to identify and prioritize automation opportunities and drive process improvements that enhance data integrity, operational efficiency, and oversight effectiveness. The successful candidate brings multistate property tax expertise, strong regulatory knowledge or aptitude, and a deep understanding of business processes and systems—skills that will be used to modernize property tax administration and compliance.
A key focus of this role is partnering with the Director of Indirect Tax to build and scale Avangrid’s in‑house property tax organization, reflecting the company’s commitment to operational excellence and long‑term development capability. This role supports ongoing property tax operations and plays an active part in recruiting and developing a high‑performing team.
In support of these objectives, the Tax Manager will advance data administration improvements, reporting modernization, and planning capabilities, including oversight of the annual property tax budget. The role also supports the implementation and optimization of tax technology solutions, including ERP integrations, property tax systems, and data analytics tools. The Tax Manager will build strong working relationships across the business to enhance asset data governance, tax forecasting, and regulatory reporting processes, while applying effective communication and leadership skills to manage competing priorities, support enterprise initiatives, and promote consistent, efficient, and sustainable property tax operations.
