Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, performs technical accounting work in reconciling and monitoring specific accounting and fiscal functions; applies knowledge of regulations, statutes, procedures, and existing accounting system to determine propriety of actions; performs other related duties as required.

Examples of Duties:

  • Applies extensive practical knowledge of accounting in the review and analysis of accounting data;

  • Acts as a resource in all matters pertaining to the functional area of expertise;

  • Provides formal or informal training to other employees;

  • Provides written or verbal interpretations of rules, regulations, processes, policies, and procedures pertaining to the functional area of responsibility to, employees, vendors, financial institutions, and the general public;

  • Develops and recommends changes to and enforces rules, regulations, policies, and procedures within the activity;

  • Drafts operational guides, forms, and other materials; monitors the maintenance and balancing of the accounting system;

  • Resolves problems in balancing the system;

  • Reviews and analyzes reports generated by the system for errors and inconsistencies; makes adjustments to correct discrepancies;

  • Supervises account record keeping and other personnel engaged in maintaining financial data, records, and systems;

  • Reviews the efficiency of clerical processes and compliance with prescribed record keeping procedures;

  • Recommends improvements in procedures to reduce errors and processing delays;

  • Resolves problems and complaints;

  • Drafts memoranda, general circulars, and correspondence;

  • Prepares reports, including both data and narrative reporting and interpretation; and

  • Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Training & Experience:

A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school; and

  • three (3) years of account recordkeeping work experience.
