DESCRIPTION
Working under the direction and supervision of the school principal and/or the assistant principal along with the supervision and guidance from the Title I Office, the Family and Community Engagement Contact (FACE) promotes access and equity opportunities for all students and families, and works in collaboration with all school-based staff to establish home-school partnerships as well as supports school-based family engagement. The Family and Community Engagement Contact effectively communicates school-based family engagement opportunities and provides resources to families around academics, social-emotional learning, and other outside agencies.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Possess an awareness of the strategic plan of the Howard County Public School System
Acquire an awareness of the Howard County Parent, Family, and Community Engagement Policy and Title I Family-School Compact and Plan
Actively participate and serve as a member of the school-based Title I Team, Family Engagement Team, Student Support Team, and/or the School Improvement Team
Collaborate with all liaisons, and other support staff (including Community School Site Coordinator where applicable) in the school-building to support families and students needs
Build relationships with stakeholders to create an inclusive and supportive environment
Work in collaboration with families to remove barriers that affect students from reaching their full potential
Recruit Title I family members to participate on school-based committees
Assist in gathering input from all stakeholders to drive school-based family engagement initiatives
Use school-based staff, family, and community input to make decisions for family engagement events
Assist in the planning of and participate in school family engagement events
Communicate and collaborate with Title I school-based staff, central office personnel, and community members to exchange information on current programs and services that support students and their families
Build knowledge of the community partnerships within the school and other available resources for families
Provide access to community resources that support academic and mental health needs and supports for families and students
Engage in professional growth opportunities to enhance their knowledge on supporting family engagement and building the capacity of school-based staff around family engagement
Facilitate and log home-school connection using multiple modes of communication

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must meet all the following qualifications, listed below, to be considered for the vacancy. Use the application, letter of introduction, and resume to specifically address each qualification.
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma
Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field or at least five years of related experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in a K-12 educational setting and working with diverse populations
Knowledge of the vision/mission/goals of the Howard County Public School System and Strategic Plan
An eagerness to work with students, parents, and families
Flexibility and initiative in working with students and staff
An ability to accept assignments and carry them out to completion
SALARY
Hourly Rate of Pay $30/hr.
Position is anticipated to work a maximum of 17 Total hours per week between assigned locations. Actual assigned work location and daily work hours are dependent upon school system needs.
Temporary employees are not benefits eligible.
