Head Men's/Women's Water Polo Coach
Job Description:
The Head Men’s & Women’s Water Polo Coach is responsible for overseeing all aspects of both programs. This includes and is not limited to practice and game preparation; budget management; fundraising; scheduling; scouting; recruiting; roster management; gear and equipment; and assisting with pool maintenance. This position ensures the program works within NCAA, MAAC, CWPA and University rules and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Advanced knowledge of men’s and women’s water polo that has been acquired by significant experience coaching or playing in a post-secondary environment of commensurate experience.
- Ensure that all Mount St. Mary’s University, CWPA, MAAC, and NCAA policies and procedures are followed. Including, but not limited to, student-athlete eligibility, recruiting, financial aid, scheduling, and academic progress. Ensure compliance with Mount St. Mary’s University, CWPA, MAAC, and NCAA rules by student athletes and sport related staff.
- Promote academic excellence, integrity, and graduation by working closely with respective Athletic Academic Advisor and the Office of Compliance.
- Teach fundamental skills and techniques, while preparing, leading, and executing practice and game plans for both championship and non-championship seasons.
- Prepare, manage, and maximize program operating budget with established fundraising goals.
- Provide leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes.
- Direct and manage the Water Polo program recruiting efforts of prospective student athletes to include the following: maintain a database, observe practices and games, host on campus visits, initiate and respond to phone calls, emails, and mailings.
- Order and maintain appropriate uniforms, equipment, and supplies.
- Work in conjunction with the Business Operations Office to coordinate team travel for competitions to include van or bus itineraries, lodging, and meals.
- Establish, maintain and be responsive to community and programmatic contacts.
- Develop meaningful relationships with prospective, current, and former student athletes.
- Participate in fundraising, community service and engagement programs, assigned and/or coordinated by the Department of Athletics.
- Lead efforts to enhance the overall student athlete experience
Job Requirements: Education, Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Successful collegiate coaching and/or collegiate playing experience desired.
- Knowledge of understanding of NCAA rules and regulations
- Must have current driver’s license for transportation of university vehicles.
- Ability to work nights and weekends.
- Must be CPA and first aid certified
- Review of candidates will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
Target Salary
$53,000/year
(Actual compensation will be commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications).
