Press Operation

Set up and operate the HP T4xx series inkjet web press to bring digital designs to life according to job specifications and standard operating procedures. Prepare and load paper rolls, calibrate paper tension, and ensure precise web alignment for accurate print results. Monitor inkjet heads, dryers, and inline quality controls to maintain consistent color accuracy, image sharpness, and overall print quality. Make real-time adjustments to color, registration, and layout to ensure the finished product reflects the intended design vision. Follow all plant safety guidelines and lock out/tag out procedures, handling inks, solvents, and paper rolls in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

Quality Control

Review printed output with a designer's eye to confirm it matches customer expectations and internal quality standards. Conduct test runs to verify color consistency, clarity, and alignment, making adjustments as needed to preserve the integrity of the original design. Document and report any quality concerns, mechanical malfunctions, or deviations from the approved layout.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on the press, ink systems, dryers, and unwind/rewind units to ensure consistent print quality. Troubleshoot paper jams, ink delivery issues, and software errors with both technical skill and an understanding of design-critical elements like color and registration. Partner with maintenance teams or HP technical support for complex repairs to minimize downtime and protect print quality.

Production Workflow

Interpret work orders with attention to design specifications, ensuring each job is set up to reflect the original creative intent. Collaborate with prepress on file preparation for optimal print output, and coordinate with finishing teams to meet downstream requirements. Prioritize projects to meet deadlines while maintaining high design and quality standards. Record production data (waste, run speeds, ink usage) accurately in the MIS or log sheets to support efficiency and continuous improvement.
