Job Summary

The Grounds Student Assistant assists in the Physical Plant/Work Management Center providing support to faculty and staff in areas such as outdoor waste and recycling services and grounds upkeeping.

Job Description

Typical duties include but not limited to:

  • Regularly patrol designated areas of the campus to collect and dispose of trash and recycling materials.
  • Care for plants and greenery across the campus, including watering and pruning as necessary.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as trimming plants, to upkeep the appearance and functionality of outdoor areas.
  • Perform routine maintenance on state vehicles.

Other Duties:

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications

  • Enrolled as a degree seeking student at Florida Gulf Coast University at the time of hire and throughout the appointment.
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and be in good conduct standing with the University.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be friendly, dependable, and willing to work in a physically active position.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
