Assist Director(s) and Executive Director with the daily operation of the Office of Spiritual Development (OSD), as it relates to various projects and initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in overseeing programming and prayer strategies to provide leadership in ensuring effective prayer ministry for Liberty University faculty, staff, and students.

  • Develop and execute prayer trainings, guides/devotions, prayer calendar, etc. as needed.
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the Prayer Chapel & Global Prayer Room related to Prayer Ministry.
  • Help foster a sustainable 24-hour Global Prayer Room designed to model prayer through scripture and worship in music.
  • Develop and execute annual Prayer Summit and semester prayer experiences.
  • Support in leading, managing, and training staff and students in leading 24-hour prayer and worship.
  • Provide prayer support for residential, commuter and online students through online communication.
  • Serve as a conduit for prayer requests from online students to OSD staff and other university office staffs.
  • Help ensure that prayer is encouraged, engaged, and integrated into every ministry in OSD.
  • Plan and organize special prayer events (i.e., prayer conferences, prayer seminars, Collegiate Day of Prayer, etc.).
  • Assist administration with student-related issues/resolutions (Chancellor, President, Student Advocate Office, International Student Office, etc.).
  • Act as liaison to faculty, staff and administration regarding student related problems.
  • Aid the student population through directing them to student support resources.
  • Meet with students one-on-one, providing initial pastoral counseling as needed.
  • Remains abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services and leading industry performance benchmarks.
  • Attend departmental meetings and official Liberty University meetings as required.
  • Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES  

This position is responsible for approximately four staff and five student workers.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Education and Experience:

  • Four-year college degree or the equivalent.
  • 2-3 years+ experience in professional training

Preferred Experience:

  • Master’s degree
  • 3 years+ experience in a business or non-profit organization

ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOB

Communication and Comprehension

  • Possess communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of campus/community leaders and volunteers.

  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)

  • Minimum typing 60 words per minute

  • Ability to work under pressure with deadlines

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information

  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner


Problem Solving

  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.


Physical and Sensory Abilities

  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard. 

  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.

Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting.  It is well lighted and the noise level is moderate.    

Driving Requirements

If the employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel.  Proof of a valid driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee’s position.
