Job Summary
The Receiving Supervisor is responsible for directing, developing, and managing shipping and receiving operations for incoming raw materials and outbound shipments. This role oversees the Receiving Clerks and Material Handlers to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations in alignment with company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Essential Functions
- Champion and actively participate in company safety initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
- Lead daily and monthly safety meetings; perform regular AWARE audits.
- Supervise shipping, receiving, warehousing, inventory control, UPS shipments, rail car billings, and related activities.
- Manage inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring timely loading and unloading for both truck and rail deliveries.
- Oversee and maintain shipping and receiving appointment schedule.
- Manage railroad operations and related activity.
- Track and maintain warehouse equipment, including tablets, scanners, forklifts, and clamp trucks.
- Assist with budget for forklift maintenance.
- Schedule and oversee in-house forklift and aerial lift training, issue and document certifications.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance and maintain all related service records.
- Administer employee schedules and timekeeping, including hours worked, PTO, and attendance, using UKG.
- Conduct daily warehouse security checks, including rail lines and truck doors.
- Oversee wastepaper shipments in coordination with 3rd-party vendors selected by Supply Chain.
- Support SQF Housekeeping and Food Safety Programs; provide plant housekeeping support.
- Train, mentor, and develop direct reports, fostering accountability and professional growth.
Job Qualifications
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in shipping/receiving or manufacturing operations.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to supervise, coach, and develop employees effectively.
- Consistent application of safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and initiative to improve processes.
- Valid driver’s license with ability to travel to storage facilities, vendors, or customer sites.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Work Environment
- Manufacturing environment with regular use of computers, printers, copiers, and telephones.
- Physical requirements: walking (40%), standing (50%), sitting (10%), and full range of body motion (twisting, bending, squatting, reaching above/below shoulders).
- Visual requirements include near/far acuity, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
- Travel by plane or automobile may be required for training, vendor visits, or exposure to new processes and equipment.
