Job Description:
NEURORADIOLOGIST, BETH ISRAEL DEACONESS MEDICAL CENTER
Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC)
The Radiology Department at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), a Harvard Medical School (HMS) affiliate, is seeking a dedicated physician for a full-time faculty position in neuroradiology in response to our growing practice. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the broad field of neuroradiology. There will be opportunities for leadership roles within the section, particularly in ENT radiology, neuro-oncology, functional imaging and education.
Under the direction of Yu-Ming Chang, MD, PhD, the Neuroradiology Section performs the full range of neuroradiology exams at the Medical Center’s main campus in Boston and at our affiliated sites. Current facilities include 10 clinical MRI units at 1.5T and 3T (not including research MR systems, human and small bore), 12 CT scanners (64 to 320 slice, including a portable unit), and state of the art biplane angiography equipment. The sites feed a common PACS and the studies are read at BIDMC in Boston.
Currently, the Neuroradiology Section has eleven full and part-time faculty members and 5 fellows. Faculty members deliver clinical service, teach and conduct research. The neuroradiologist will interpret diagnostic imaging with CT and MR, as well as perform myelography and image guided lumbar puncture. Section members participate in an equally shared neuroradiology call pool. We provide teaching conferences for medical students, residents and fellows. Most section members engage in clinical research, but there are opportunities for translational and bench research for the appropriate candidate. We collaborate closely with our clinical colleagues and contribute to several multidisciplinary conferences each week. This is a busy, collegial and friendly work environment.
In addition, the department will be engaged in the newly announced and exciting clinical collaboration between Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, BIDMC, and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) to establish New England’s only free-standing adult inpatient cancer hospital. The collaboration will bring together world-class clinicians to deliver transformational, precision medicine in an environment solely dedicated to defying cancer.
Located in the Longwood Medical area, BIDMC is a Harvard Medical School-affiliated teaching hospital with 720 beds, a Level I trauma center that routinely ranks among the top independent hospitals nationally in NIH funding and is an NCI-designated Cancer Center. BIDMC is an anchor of the Beth Israel Lahey Health network, a certified Comprehensive Stroke Center and is further expanding its Cancer Center with specific focus on neuro-oncology. Candidates should be excited to work in an academic environment and committed to teaching medical students, residents, and fellows in Radiology and collaborating departments.
Applicants must be ABR board-eligible or board certified, have completed training requirements for subspecialty certification in Neuroradiology, eligible for licensure in Massachusetts and qualified for academic appointment at the Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor level at Harvard Medical School. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary range does not include bonus, parking, health insurance, or any other departmental contributions towards salary.
