The Department of Pathology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is recruiting for a full- time academic Transfusion Medicine physician. The position is open rank and both recent fellowship graduates and mid-career physicians are strongly encouraged to apply. BIDMC is a tertiary care facility with 743 licensed beds and an internationally renowned principal teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School with NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center-affiliated Cancer Center.

The successful candidate will join two full-time transfusion medicine physicians, managing a comprehensive transfusion medicine service which supports active clinical programs in transplantation (bone marrow and solid organ), general hematology and oncology, cardiovascular surgery, obstetrics and neonatology.

In addition to sharing clinical and administrative service responsibilities, the successful candidate will be expected to play an active role in our pathology training programs and to develop a strong program in translational research.

The department will be engaged in the newly announced and exciting clinical collaboration between Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, BIDMC, and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) to establish New England’s only free-standing adult inpatient cancer hospital. The collaboration will bring together world-class clinicians to deliver transformational, precision medicine in an environment solely dedicated to defying cancer.

Requirements:

  • Board Certification in Pathology (AP/CP or CP), Internal Medicine/Hematology, or Anesthesia
  • Board Certification in Transfusion Medicine
  • Eligibility for Massachusetts State License through the Board of Registration in Medicine
  • Eligibility for faculty appointment at Harvard Medical School at the rank of Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor, commensurate with experience

Pay Range:

$270,000-$321,000

The base pay range reflects what Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (HMFP) reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this role at the time of posting and may be modified from time to time. Actual compensation within this range may be determined based on several factors, including academic appointment, work experience, specialty training, geography of work location, anticipated productivity, FTE basis, and role expectations. In addition to base compensation, this role may be eligible for performance-based incentives, which may include bonuses for productivity and quality HMFP also offers a comprehensive and generous employee benefits program to eligible employees, including health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, as well as retirement plan(s) with employer contributions.
