Position Overview:

The Design Intern will be responsible for the design and execution of the product line, through any updates, refabrications, or refreshes that the business requires. Integrating consumer insights, warranty feedback and brand vision into execution of the core product line. Working closely with the whole design team, the Design Intern will partner on a continuous basis to support the Atelier. Exceptional project and time management skills are a must, paired with the upmost attention to detail to insure premium execution of product to support Canada Goose’s performance luxury positioning.

What You'll Do: 

  • Management of the Carryover assortment including refreshes in colour and print, style updates, refabrications and core reset as assigned by Design Director
  • Management and execution of end to end colour process from research and development of the palette, standard selection and management, colour execution, colour logic, colour keys and labdip requests
  • Work with design directors to establish seasonal colour palettes
  • Print execution, review and comment on strike offs, working with senior graphic designer and outside consultants as needed
  • Insure premium execution of core product line through seasonal updates in colour and print
  • Coordination and Management of all design colour tools
  • Work with the Design Team and cross functional partners to observe and own seasonal and project calendars
  • Research and design a designated number of styles from concept to proto approval, as directed by Design Leadership
  • Execute special projects with the support of the Design Manager and Design Team
  • Work closely with Merchandising partners to ensure all designs support the business objectives
  • Enter all data required into PLM and updating as required for all styles as directed
  • Work closely with PDE partners to communicate designs, BOMs and updates/changes throughout the proto process
  • Support the Design Team in all fits, be the design voice in fittings on designated styles
  • Work with Raw Materials team to support color development as needed
  • All other duties as assigned by the manager

About You: 

  • BA Honours Degree or above in Fashion Design
  • To be eligible you must have a 'convention de stage'
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French and English
  • Computer Skills; included proficiency in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and InDesign is essential
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative to achieve departmental and corporate objectives
  • General knowledge of patternmaking and critical product construction
  • General knowledge of materials (fabrics and trims)
  • Excellent presentation skills of both designs and creative concepts
  • CAD development skills for construction of garments and merchandised presentations
  • Prior experience with Product Line Management (PLM) suggested 
  • Well organized and proficient in time management
  • General knowledge of line merchandising
  • Able to research independently
  • Has a critical eye on the market, runway and current trends
  • Brings newness to the design process through exploratory thinking and executing
  • Demonstrates creative ability that exceeds market expectations
  • Ability to work in a team and maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion
