JOB SUMMARY:

Under supervision, the Adult Education Facilitator focuses on recruiting, instructing, supporting, and assisting Adult Education IET (Integrated Education and Training) students through a successful transition into IET and postsecondary programs.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support and monitor Adult Education IET student retention, progress, completion, and transitions into college/career programs, work force and employment.
  • Proactively manage and guide students in the IET program to obtain a high school equivalency diploma, develop English language and professional communication skills, learn and practice employability skills and earn credentials of value and industry certifications.
  • Connect IET students with college and community resources to overcome barriers.
  • Cultivate and maintain college and community partnerships with the IET Collaborate of faculty and staff to implement an integrated curriculum in business and health science.
  • Assist with enrollment and registration as needed.
  • Provide academic support and instruction as needed.
  • Assist with grant writing.
  • Complete all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree. 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience of instructional techniques that promote student success and student engagement. 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in technology and digital literacy skills. 
  • Must be student oriented and can focus on multiple student objectives simultaneously. 
  • Ability to work flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assignments.
  • Computer proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office computer applications, the current college learning management system software, and video projection systems in the classroom. 
  • Ability to deal effectively and diplomatically with diverse populations including students, faculty, staff, supervisors, and administrators. 
  • Strong written and communication skills. 
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to identify details and solve problems. 
  • Possession of a strong work ethic along with the ability to exercise good judgment. 
  • Ability to positively represent the college.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds.  It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
