Job Duties

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  • Coordinate and oversee the personnel management of all nursing units/departments. Manages through teams of Directors and Managers.
  • Has authority to determine proper resource allocation within span of control.
  • Typically serves as senior executive nurse of a specific hospital or leads a significant portion of an inpatient nursing region
  • Ensure the ongoing education, development and mentoring of nurse leaders within their purview
  • Maintain effective relationships, communication and collaborations with other department directors and with hospital operations leadership to ensure daily operations and long range patient care strategies within Jefferson Health consistently meet all regulatory and patient care standards.
  • Viewed as a key member of regional leadership team.
  • Coordinate and oversee the operational and capital budgets of all inpatient units within span of control.
  • Support and develop the professional practice environment supported by the tenets of ANCC
  • Ensure units/departments comply with all regulatory agency standards and requirements
  • Collaborate with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to ensure that all departments quality, safety, patient satisfaction, staff engagement and fiscal plans are developed, implemented and goals attained.
  • Ensure implementation of enterprise and regional nursing strategies to achieve success in defined goals.
  • Tracks and reports key quality, safety, experience and financial key performance indicators and directs actions plans accordingly.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to working collaboratively to meet the needs of communities served.
  • Supports professional development programs and promotes a culture of continuous learning, and appreciative inquiry.
  • Communicates and shares information with staff on a regular basis. Keeps employees informed of new policies, procedures, new programs and other pertinent information relevant to nursing practice
  • Collaborate with the CNO to be responsible for the building and sustaining of a culture of accountability and assuring that nursing practices are based on tenets of patient and family centered care and high reliability throughout nursing and the organization


Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree
  • Bachelor’s Degree BSN
  • Minimum 8 years progressive clinical and management experience
  • 1 year experience as a nurse or program manager and nursing/clinical director
  • Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of New Jersey

  • Certification in Nursing leadership
  • Proven track record as both a Nurse or Program Manager and Nursing / Clinical Director


Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate Degree

  • Membership in professional organization encouraged

  • Certification in clinical practice are preferred

Physical Demands
Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.

Salary Range

$148,428.59 to $211,511.22 Annual

The actual hiring rate will be determined based on candidate experience, skills and qualifications. This position is eligible for an annual incentive.
