Job Summary: This role performs preventative and corrective maintenance for equipment, repairing to board level. Incumbents of this role will also carry out product builds on the production assembly lines to specifications. This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs equipment-related, preventive and corrective maintenance, on-site diagnosis, troubleshooting, repairs and replacement of modular components.
Possesses ability to read and interpret complex schematics, parts/wiring diagrams, work orders, customer specifications, test instructions/procedures and engineers’ notes/memos to determine tests/equipment required. Sets up and evaluates performance of subassemblies and assemblies.
Analyses and interprets test data to determine if results are within appropriate specifications.
Uses counters, signal generators, tracking generators, synthesizers, network analyzers, spectrum analysers, digital interface units, basic hand tools and special tooling for detailed diagnostics of equipment
Assembles products as per instructions detailed in relevant T.P’s (Text Procedures), ensuring products meet quality standards and are assembled according to KPIs
Continuously applies 5S methodology to all our operating areas
Supports the Quality Assurance team in the calibration of items that are not sent to calibration service providers, and maintain originals of calibration certificates in a file
Prepares and maintains appropriate technical notes and records.
Provides feedback to supervision and planning on time restraints and productivity goals set by management
Actively engages in continuous improvement activities both within the team and the wider company initiatives
Trains, directs and assists lower technicians as required

Minimum Job Requirements:
Qualifications
Essential:
NCEA or similar qualification in the field of electronics engineering, computer science, information systems, or other relevant technical; discipline
Must have a full New Zealand drivers license
Skills/Experience/Knowledge:
Essential:
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role
Ability to follow T.P’s (Text procedures) and engineering drawings.
Ability to solder to IPC-A-610 RevD, class 2
Ability to carry out wiring to IPC WHMA A 620 RevA, class 2
Relevant hand skills to be able to carry out light mechanical assembly work
Minimum computer skills sufficient to carry out product testing using ATE (Automated Test Equipment)
Assembly experience to ensure that allocated production assembly times are met or improved upon
Must be experienced in soldering and wiring to a high standard
Experience with IPC 610 soldering and 620 wiring would be advantageous

Condition of Employment:
Successful outcome of a National Police Check
Occasional travel to NZ suppliers or overseas Customer sites may be required so the ability to communicate clearly in English both verbally and written is a key requirement.
