Job Description:
SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Grants and Contracts for the Brown University Health Grants and Contracts Office, the Grants and Contracts Manager ensures completion and performs a variety of functions related to the management and administrative aspects of research administration. May be recognized and serve as back-up signatory for the Director. Interprets and ensures compliance with established Hospital policies and procedures and those of external funding agencies. The Brown University Health Grants and Contracts Office covers and serves six separate institutions (RIH, TMH, Bradely, Gateway, TAP, Friendsway) with separate unique entity identifiers (UEIs). The Grants and Contracts Manager will work with a variety of clients across all Brown University Health affiliates.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
Bachelors Degree plus at least 5-7 years of progressively more responsible experience in the field of research administration (grants and contracts, regulations, requirements), demonstrating knowledge of and ability to interpret related requirements and regulations, to work collaboratively with a variety of constituents, and to communicate effectively.
Direct experience in financial management, including budget management, reporting, financial modeling, and financial analysis; policy implementation; and research administration, including familiarity with all relevant policies and procedures; experience with managing staff preferred
Experience in post-award required.
Experience using the COEUS or similar database preferred.
Proven accounting skills/experience required including the ability to analyze and reconcile accounts
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Job Competencies
Must have excellent computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Power Point.
Comfortable in public speaking and training environments.
Excellent administrative and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize own workload and workload of others
Proficiency with Microsoft and GSuite Programs and FileMaker. Workday experience preferred.
Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
Effective customer service skills
File and database management skills
Supervisory skills preferred.
Willingness and ability to continue to learn
Must be able to shift focus and priority in pressure environment
Must be able to work with large volumes of work, multiple project deadlines, and diverse personalities.
