Responsibilities
Position Overview: The Social Services Case Manager and Victim Advocate (SSCMVA) provides comprehensive support to families and individuals, including victims of human trafficking, and shelter residents through case management, crisis assistance (including food pantry and seasonal programs), and advocacy. This role utilizes trauma-informed care to assist all clients in achieving stability, with a focus on alleviating homelessness, physical, spiritual, and emotional wellness through goal planning, resource management, and collaboration with community partners.
Duties:
- Interview clients and assess their individual needs.
- Conduct Initial screening and intake of newly identified victims of Human Trafficking and ensure all coordinated referrals are made to community and grant partners.
- Initiate and execute both Safety Plan and Individualized Case Plan with each victim.
- Maintain appropriate and complete documentation in client file.
- Responsible for keeping a daily record of client contacts and statistical records.
- Responsible for assigned reports including entry of client’s information in the Delaware Community Management System (DE-CMIS) and The Salvation Army Social Services database.
- Responsible for following up with clients who may require additional attention beyond crisis alleviation services.
- Responsible for resident meetings at least twice a week for the first two weeks and at least once a week for the remainder of their stay.
- Conduct intakes with new clients including review of the client handbook and shelter policies.
- Assist with the coordination of special programs (i.e. Camp Ladore, Christmas)
- Make appropriate referrals for social services clients such as counseling, financial literacy, clothing, housing, etc.
- Provide a holistic approach to the crisis and explore alternative ways of satisfying client needs and reducing barriers.
- Coverage for front desk receptionist while on breaks/lunch.
- Responsible for the disbursement of funds under funders guidelines.
- Participate in at least 12 hours of approved-mandatory trauma-informed professional development training each year.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates degree in social work or related field, and/or 4 years of experience providing placement or case management services for low income individuals is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field is preferred.
- Bi-lingual in Spanish and English a plus.
- Must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently, work well with groups and be able to demonstrate good judgment and interpersonal skills.
- Must have good time management skills.
- Must be able to maintain a compassionate and professional attitude toward those being served.
- Must have a working knowledge of Word, Excel and e-mail.
- You must be able to obtain clearances required by the Joseph R. Biden III and the Child Protection Act.
- Must possess an understanding of and support the mission of The Salvation Army.
