Overview
The Salvation Army is the largest provider of social services and second largest provider of disaster relief in the United States. The Greater New York Division covers New York City, Long Island, Westchester, and the Lower Hudson Valley. Within Greater New York (GNY), The Salvation Army operates 38 community centers, dozens of soup kitchens and food pantries, three homeless shelters, eight homes for developmentally disabled adults, and five drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers, among numerous other programs catering to community needs, such as free daycare, after school programming, and Seniors activities.
Reporting to the Director of Major Gifts, the Community Partnerships Manager will provide an integrated experience for our most engaged, mission-aligned community members through an integrated volunteer and fundraising program, with the goal of increasing volunteerism and fundraising by focusing on three areas:
Churches: Cultivating and stewarding churches and individuals in their congregations by engaging churches in the Mission of The Salvation Army through volunteerism and fundraising; Volunteers: Engaging individual and community volunteer groups with the goal of providing a smooth and meaningful volunteer experience and converting volunteers into donors; Echelon: Managing the young professional junior board, Echelon, as they fundraise and become a pipeline to major donors and Advisory Board members. By focusing on identifying and cultivating like-minded individuals in the mission of The Salvation Army through financial support, in-kind support, volunteering, and prayer support, the Community Partnerships Manager will expand our donor base and draw our volunteers closer to the organization.
The candidate must live in the Greater New York City area and be able to easily commute into and work from the GNY Divisional Headquarters (Manhattan) and travel throughout the GNY Division regularly to visit partner churches and to be present at volunteer activities.
