The Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Lead is responsible for overseeing all O&M activities across facility systems in a high-tech manufacturing environment. This role serves as the primary on-site leader for maintenance operations, ensuring system reliability, maintenance excellence, and safety compliance while coordinating activities between internal teams, contractors, and client representatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary on-site lead and single point of contact for all Operations & Maintenance activities.
  • Provide daily leadership, direction, and technical oversight to O&M personnel across Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls disciplines.
  • Maintain full ownership of preventive maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance (CM), calibration activities, and asset performance reporting.
  • Oversee CMMS work processes (e.g., Maximo), including scheduling, tracking, assignments, and work order closeout.
  • Ensure all systems operate within defined parameters and proactively address alarms, deviations, or reliability risks.
  • Act as the escalation point for troubleshooting complex equipment or system issues; coordinate with Engineering, OEMs, and client stakeholders.
  • Perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, or calibration as needed to maintain operational continuity.
  • Lead daily and weekly O&M meetings, communicating system health, priorities, risks, and safety updates.
  • Coordinate shift schedules, task assignments, and team coverage to support 24/7 operations.
  • Drive PM/CM compliance and verify quality and completion of maintenance activities through audits and field inspections.
  • Review and approve all maintenance documentation, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and compliance with client standards.
  • Collaborate with Facilities Engineering, Operations, EHS, and Quality to ensure alignment between maintenance and production needs.
  • Enforce all safety programs including LOTO, arc flash, confined space, chemical handling, and PPE standards.
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation.
  • Ensure all team members are trained, competent, and qualified; maintain up-to-date training matrices and LMS records.
  • Act as System or Equipment Owner where assigned, responsible for system performance, PM optimisation, and engineering change validation.
  • Support commissioning, requalification, and functional testing after maintenance or upgrades.
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on system reliability, efficiency, and cost reduction.
  • Manage vendor and contractor activities; verify scope compliance, work quality, and safety adherence.
  • Provide input for budgeting, resource planning, performance metrics, and reporting.
  • Track and report KPIs including PM compliance, CM backlog, uptime, and safety performance.
  • Maintain audit readiness by ensuring accurate and current documentation, calibration certificates, and logs.
  • Foster strong relationships with client representatives through consistent communication and operational excellence.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development for O&M team members.
  • Step into technical roles during emergencies or resource gaps to ensure operational continuity.

Skills Required:

  • 7+ years of Operations & Maintenance or Facilities Engineering experience in a high-tech or mission-critical environment.
  • 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience managing technical O&M teams.
  • Strong technical expertise in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or Controls systems.
  • Proven ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, SOPs, and technical specifications.
  • Experience working with CMMS platforms (e.g., Maximo, SAP) for scheduling and work order management.
  • Strong understanding of industrial safety standards including LOTO, arc flash, confined space, chemical handling, and PPE requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex systems and coordinate with Engineering and OEM support.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and team leadership skills.

Education / Licenses / Certifications:

  • Technical Degree or Trade Qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or a related field preferred.
  • Additional certifications in maintenance, safety, or reliability engineering are an advantage.
  • Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable.
