Administrative Assistant, Global Security

The primary purpose of the job is to provide direct support to the Senior Manager for Global Security, Health, and Safety. This position also helps with management of all university international travel as it relates to security, health, and safety.

Note: This is a part-time position (28) hours per week.

What you’ll do in this position:

  • Manage Security Office Operations & Analytics by overseeing business processes, tracking performance metrics, and providing improvement recommendations.

  • Oversee Travel Intelligence & Data Platforms by managing web-based platforms that deliver destination intelligence and emergency response services.

  • Manage and maintain travelsmart.byu.edu by updating site content and forms, posting travel restrictions, recommending enhancements, and coordinating with OIT.

  • Coordinate Emergency Response & University Partnerships by collaborating with campus and external partners to manage care, response, and evacuations, including off-hours support.

  • Provide Pre-Travel & In-Travel Security Support by reviewing travel proposals, assessing risk, and delivering security and health guidance.

  • Monitor Long-Term International Travelers by tracking employees abroad, issuing real-time updates, and improving traveler monitoring systems.

  • Support Travelers During Health & Security Incidents by coordinating medical, insurance, embassy, and local authority support during emergencies.

  • Provide Consultation & Institutional Support by advising with government and security experts, supporting CES safety efforts, supervising students, and attending meetings.

  • Provide Administrative Support to the Security Advisor – Develop Training & Incident Response Programs by designing pre-travel training and developing incident-response protocols for security, health, mental health, and misconduct cases.

What qualifies you for this role:

Required

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.  
  • Bachelor’s degree and 1-year of international living or equivalent travel experience. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in website content development, layout, and editing. Materials development and teaching experience.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of international living, working, or travel experience
  • Knowledge of world geography, languages, politics, and economies
  • Previous work experience in geography, languages, linguistics, government (international portfolio), development, or area studies
  • Strong background in website content development
  • Proven experience in materials development with an emphasis on presentation and training
  • Experience in office analytics software programs and statistical analysis
  • Understanding of BYU’s service departments and academic units

Pay Grade: 49

Typical Starting Pay: $22.75 - $29.50

The actual compensation offered will take into consideration internal equity and may vary based on the candidate’s job-related experience, knowledge, skills, and other relevant factors. Candidates with very significant work-related experience may receive an offer higher than the posted typical range.
