No previous experience is necessary, as successful work study candidates will receive training on the intentional use of digital technologies in service of student learning. The most important qualities we seek for this position are a natural curiosity to learn, reliability, and interest in technology. Once training is complete, students will work mainly on the second floor of Schaffer Library, within the Design Studio.


Essential Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Create on-demand, self-directed documentation and training (e.g., articles, screencasts)for Union’s ITS knowledge base for students on things like Nexus, visual design, video editing, podcasting, and digital whiteboarding.

  • Conduct “how to” technology workshops for students to produce digital media projects. Workshops may be conducted within a class, at a faculty member’s request, or for the general Union student population.

  • Hold regular “office hours” for one-on-one technology support for students needing individual help using learning technologies for their coursework and research projects.

  • Work as a liaison between students and Librarian professional/student staff and services.

  • Leverage Design Studio technology and equipment to complete tasks and accomplish goals.

  • Perform time-critical tasks, sometimes with minimal individual supervision.

  • Work with a close-knit team to provide education and support for the use of technologies to improve learning outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently after the training period

  • Interest in technology and digital tools

  • Able to communicate effectively (orally and in writing)

  • Professional and reliable

  • Understanding of HTML basics, a plus but not required.
