Position Summary  

 

The Director of Loan Structuring leads the preparation, coordination, and structuring of complex lending transactions across Anchor’s Residential Transitional Lending (RTL) program. The role is responsible for structuring and evaluating loans including ground-up construction (GUC), fix-and-flip / rehabilitation loans, construction completion loans, bridge loans, acquisition and development (A&D) loans, and internal refinances  

The Director is also responsible for operating Anchor’s Scenario Desk, ensuring loan opportunities are properly screened, analyzed, and structured prior to credit decisions. The position serves as the central coordination point between Sales, Underwriting, Asset Management, Valuation, and Capital Markets, ensuring transactions presented to Scenario Desk are well prepared, risk-adjusted, and aligned with company credit policy and capital markets execution requirements. 

In this capacity, the Director drives operational discipline across the credit structuring process by maintaining structured decision tracking, improving the quality and completeness of deal preparation, and increasing the speed and clarity of credit decisions. The role plays a critical part in supporting Anchor’s ability to scale RTL originations while maintaining strong credit risk management and consistent loan structuring standards. 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

 

Scenario Desk Leadership 

  • Own the preparation and execution of Scenario Desk meetings, including agenda creation, deal prioritization, and meeting facilitation. 

  • Ensure deals presented to Scenario Desk include complete credit analysis, market data, borrower profiles, and structuring recommendations. 

  • Document decisions, conditions, and follow-up actions from Scenario Desk discussions. 

  • Maintain a centralized Scenario Desk decision log and negotiation tracker. 

  • Coordinate additional analysis with underwriting, valuation, and capital markets teams. 

 

Credit and Loan Structuring Expertise 

  • Serve as the primary screening layer for complex or exception loan requests. 

  • Evaluate complex lending opportunities and structure transactions that balance risk management with growth objectives. 

  • Analyze borrower track records, project economics, leverage metrics, and market dynamics. 

  • Analyze borrower financials, project budgets, and exit strategies to evaluate credit risk. 

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Influence 

  • Coordinate closely with Sales, Underwriting, Valuation, and Capital Markets teams to ensure efficient deal evaluation. 

  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior credit leadership regarding structuring approaches and credit policy implications. 

 

Process Improvement and Innovation 

  • Develop standardized deal screeners and presentation materials for Scenario Desk. 

  • Implement decision tracking frameworks for borrower negotiations and credit decisions. 

  • Leverage internal data tools and analytics to improve credit decision making and operational efficiency. 

Desired Skills and Qualifications 

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience 

• Strong expertise in credit analysis, loan structuring, and real estate lending. 

• Experience with construction lending, transitional lending, and complex deal structuring. 

• Ability to synthesize large amounts of information and present clear credit recommendations. 

 Strong communication and facilitation skills to run high-level credit discussions. 

 

Work Environment: 

This is a hybrid position which requires in-office reporting to Anchor’s Thousand Oaks, CA office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Remote work is optional Monday and Friday.

 

Compensation: 

The base pay range for this position is $150,000-$175,000 plus annual discretionary bonus based on performance of the individual and company.
