TITLE:                Cosmetologist 

LOCATION:       The Cliff Spa at Snowbird 

STATUS:            Non-Exempt, Full-time, Year-round

SCHEDULE:      Shifts vary, must be available Sundays and holidays  

PAY:                   30% commission and tips on services, in addition to hourly rate

SUMMARY 

As a Salon Cosmetologist at The Cliff Spa you will take The Cliff Spa Salon to the next level by providing outstanding service and treatments to guests. You will perform all treatments offered in The Cliff Spa Salon such as haircuts, hair color, updo's, facials, brow lamination, brow wax and tint, lash lift and tint, manicures, and pedicures etc.  

WHAT YOU WILL DO  

  • Must have knowledge and experience performing basic manicures and pedicures.  

  • Be on time for your shift, prompt with each appointment and perform services within the appropriate time allotted for the service. 

  • Be flexible with your schedule, supporting the needs of the Spa. 

  • Provide consistent professional treatments in accordance with The Cliff Spa protocols and accepted certification practices.  

  • Have complete knowledge and understanding of all services and products offered. 

  • Effectively inform and educate our guests about specific wellness concerns. 

  • Handle guests’ questions and concerns professionally and courteously.  

  • Perform prep work, properly clean, sanitize and restock each workspace as required. 

  • Properly care for equipment and use proper amounts of product to assist with cost controls.  

  • Uphold the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and the Cliff Spa’s policies and procedures. 

  • Communicate to management all occurrences involving staff or guests in the spa that require attention. 

  • Possess the ability to work without direct supervision. 

  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment. 

  • Regularly attend, participate in and support training and staff meetings for the Cliff Spa. 

  • Help to maintain the cleanliness and standard of our spa facilities.  

  • Must be a team player.  

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age. 

  • Utah Cosmetologist License 

  • 1-2 years of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence. 

  • Salon knowledge and experience. Able to read, write and communicate through speech. 

  • Must be reliable, mature, and able to work with minimal supervision.  

  • Requires some exercise of judgment within policy guidelines and without supervisory approval. 

  • Requires some problem solving and initiation of activities within job description and responsibility limitations.  

WORK SCHEDULE 

  • Shifts typically available from 9:45-4:00pm and 12:15-6:30pm  

  • 4 shifts a week = full time.  

 

 WORKING CONDITIONS 

  • Must be prepared to stay overnight if necessary, on occasional times of road closures. 

  • May experience unusual stress from high business volumes, deadlines, continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird. 

  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs. 

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time. 

  • Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions. 

  • Direct and continuous contact with guests. 

  • Direct and continuous contact with co-workers, management, and other departments. 

  • Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.
