Eldora is the backyard winter mountain playground for Greater Denver, Boulder County, and Colorado's northern Front Range. Eldora is located just outside of the charming mountain town of Nederland, Colorado, about 20 miles west of Boulder and less than 50 miles from downtown Denver.

Job Summary: Eldora is looking to hire a few hard-working enthusiastic individuals to join our summer snowmaking crew. This position supports summer snowmaking operations and infrastructure projects in preparation for the winter season. Work involves navigating steep, rocky terrain and lifting and moving various types of snowmaking equipment. Responsibilities include repairing and replacing snowmaking hydrants and valves, assisting with valve house and block house construction, and performing general maintenance tasks. The role also requires working safely around heavy machinery while contributing to a variety of projects that support the overall readiness and efficiency of the snowmaking department. ~16 weeks during the summer.

Responsibilities:

  • Must have a positive attitude and willingness to work in a team environment

  • Must have an interest in learning about the process of making snow

  • Assist with installation, maintenance, and repair of snowmaking systems, including hydrants, valves, and piping

  • Replace and rebuild snowmaking hydrants and valve assemblies as needed

  • Support construction projects, including valve houses and block houses

  • Perform general maintenance and labor tasks to prepare snowmaking infrastructure for the winter season

  • Safely operate and work around heavy machinery and equipment

  • Transport, lift, and move snowmaking equipment across steep and rocky terrain

  • Conduct routine inspections of snowmaking assets and report issues or needed repairs

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures while working in variable mountain conditions

  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to complete projects efficiently

  • Assist with additional duties and special projects as assigned. Follows all company safety policies and procedures, actively contributing to a safe working environment for self, coworkers, and guests.

  • All employees are expected to support Eldora’s corporate responsibility commitment to protect the environment by participating in our Sustainable Transportation Program. This includes choosing alternative transportation, carpooling, using the employee shuttle, and avoiding onsite parking on weekends and peak days. These actions help reduce Scope 3 emissions, lead by example, and ensure adequate parking for our guests.

  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as required by resort operations. 

Qualifications:

  • High school degree or equivalent

  • Must be 18 years of age or older to operate company vehicles.

  • Has valid US Driver’s License & ability to meet company standards for MVR.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have a willingness to work 10-12 hour shifts

  • Ability to work outside in a mountain environment during harsh conditions

  • Ability to walk through deep snow or steep rocky terrain while carrying heavy equipment and tools (50+ pounds)

  • Ability to move large volumes of snow and dirt with a shovel

  • Previous snowmaking/ ski area experience required

Compensation: Proposed hiring rate of $22+ hourly, depending on experience.
