OVERVIEW OF MESA COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTHESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The following duty statements are illustrative of the essential functions of the job and do not include other non-essential or marginal duties that may be required.
Exercises direct, first-level supervision over professional staff, clerical staff, students, interns, and volunteers.
Directs activities within assigned programs including coordinating staff training, assigning and reviewing work, participating in the interview and selection process, and making recommendations impacting pay, status, performance evaluations, and disciplinary action, in conjunction with a higher-level manager/director.
Approving time cards and requests for time off at the managers discretion.
Monitor program budget, as applicable
Responds in a timely manner to community member inquiries received by phone, in person, or through email/text.
Using a whole person approach, completes assessments of community member needs and identifies potential and appropriate programs and services to address those needs.
Identifies potential and appropriate programs and services to address community member needs and reduce barriers to economic stability and health stability.
Maintains a caseload of up to 10 active community members, including the initiation of follow-up contacts at specified intervals and additional ongoing support at the request of community members.
Provides effective performance feedback through employee evaluations, recognition, and disciplinary action, with the assistance of Human Resources when necessary.
Provides opportunities for community education on available community programs and services to increase awareness and normalize enrollment.
Maintains confidentiality of all member information.
Participate in the establishment of program goals, objectives, and benchmarks with Program Manager/Director and evaluate progress toward attaining goals.
Ensures timely and accurate completion of grant deliverables as required by community-level grants currently housed at Mesa County Public Health.
Serves as a resident expert in the use of the current workload management system, and offers suggestions for improvements in design and utilization.
Responds to community stakeholder inquiries, including conducting presentations and providing community education.
Represents Mesa County Public Health positively by offering exceptional customer service in responding to community needs, enhancing public relations and coordinating community activities
Maintains understanding of all program, department, and county policies and procedures.
Works public events, evenings, and weekends, as needed.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
DEPARTMENT-WIDE JOB FUNCTIONS
Participates in emergency planning and response activities.
Participates in agency-wide activities that may include strategic planning, quality improvement, and/or staff development, as appropriate.
Completes necessary training through FEMA, including Incident Command Structure (ICS) courses.
When a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by County leadership, employees may be required to work as part of a National Incident Management System (NIMS).
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience/training
At least 3 years of related experience
At least 1 year of team supervision experience
OR
Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.
Certificates and Licenses
A valid Colorado driver’s license with a responsible driving record.
Computer and Technology
Advanced knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office applications including, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience with Google Applications including Gmail and Drive.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS and WORKING ENVIRONMENT
This position requires standing, stooping, sitting, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
Work is generally confined to a standard office environment, but will require mobile work in the community as necessary.
May be exposed to communicable diseases and infections.
