Manages insurance authorizations ensuring timeliness and accuracy for inpatients and/or Emergency Department outpatients needing placement in long term care facilities for skilled care, intermediate level of care and/or inpatient rehabilitation. Insurance Authorization Specialist is responsible for verifying insurance coverage, obtaining pre-authorizations, and maintaining detailed records to facilitate smooth billing processes and timely approvals. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and adherence to industry standards.

A Brief Overview

Manages insurance authorizations ensuring timeliness and accuracy for inpatients and/or Emergency Department outpatients needing placement in long term care facilities for skilled care, intermediate level of care and/or inpatient rehabilitation. Insurance Authorization Specialist is responsible for verifying insurance coverage, obtaining pre-authorizations, and maintaining detailed records to facilitate smooth billing processes and timely approvals. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and adherence to industry standards.

What you will do

• Verify insurance coverage and benefits for patient placement and services
• Obtain prior authorizations and pre-certifications from insurance companies for post acute care placement.
• Maintain detailed and accurate patient insurance records and demographics
• Coordinate with healthcare providers to gather necessary documentation
• Communicate coverage details with the interdisciplinary team.
• Stay updated with insurance guidelines and policy changes
• Communication and collaboration to assist with patient durable medical equipment needs at discharge.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree (AA) Healthcare Administration or related field Preferred
• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Basic education Preferred
• 1-3 years Experience in insurance authorization or medical billing Preferred

Scheduled Hours: Days, weekend and holiday rotation.
