A Brief Overview
The House Supervisor is a competent registered nurse who assumes responsibility for the coordination and direction of activities across nursing units and other departments in the absence of the Nursing Director and Administration. This role represents nursing leadership by exhibiting professionalism and supporting the hospital's mission, vision, and values.The House Supervisor provides oversight of staff delivering general nursing care, working independently while also fostering teamwork and collaboration. This position delivers high-quality nursing services to a broad range of customers, including patients, employees, administration, management, physicians, and visitors.Key accountabilities include maintaining current knowledge of regulatory standards and evidence-based practices, ensuring compliance, rounding frequently on all nursing units, and serving as the patient placement officer in the absence of a patient placement officer. During off-hours, the House Supervisor coordinates hospital operations, including acting as incident command center at the start of emergency situations, scheduling surgeries, activating the on-call surgical team, obtaining necessary supplies from materials management, and responding to all codes and rapid responses. In the absence of the staffing office, the House Supervisor fulfills that role as well.Additionally, the House Supervisor actively supports and participates in shared governance, demonstrating leadership, accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement in patient care and hospital operations.

Facilitates the efficient transfer of patients between facilities. The Transfer Center Coordinator is a Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for coordinating the safe, timely, and efficient transfer of patients into, out, and within the healthcare system. This role serves as a central point of communication between referring facilities, physicians, nursing leadership, bed management, and ancillary departments to ensure appropriate placement of patients based on clinical needs, bed availability, and organizational capabilities. This role ensures compliance with regulations and maintains detailed records for quality assurance.

Coordinate communication between transferring and receiving medical staff
Arrange required transportation and accommodations for patient transfer
Ensure compliance with state and federal transfer regulations
Maintain detailed records of all transfer activities for quality assurance
Monitor and evaluate transportation logistics and efficiency
Provide training to new staff members on transfer protocols
Associate’s Degree (AA) Registered Nurse Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Nursing or Healthcare Management Preferred
1-3 years Experience in healthcare operations Preferred
4-6 years Experience in patient transfer coordination Preferred
4-6 years Experience in patient care Preferred
Communication and coordination across disciplines
EMTALA and patient transfer regulations
Hospital services, capacity, and level-of-care criteria
Clinical assessment and critical thinking
Prioritization and multitasking in a fast-paced environment
Accurate documentation and use of technology
Ability to make sound, clinical decisions without direct patient contact
Ability to manage high-stress, time-sensitive situations
Ability to interpret and synthesize clinical information
Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association within 180 Days Required
